Tobacco History


Myrtleford and surrounds is known for the history of growing tobacco. Beginning in 1870's and ceasing in 2006. Tobacco created wealth and culture for the community.


Myrtleford is renowned for its Italian heritage. In which all started following World War II, when the industry of tobacco expanded significantly, drawing many Southern European (particularly Italian) migrants who transitioned from labourers to share-farmers and farm owners.

During march - may Myrtleford is turns into a destination for autumn bliss. The town is filled with orange and yellow colours from the falling leaves. Feels like somwthing from a movie.




La Fiera Italian Festival


To celebrate the Italian culture every year in May Myrtleford runs an Italian festival called La Fiera. A weekend full of amazing food, wine and everything Italian.
